Font - I work at a chiropractic clinic with another girl. Our boss had a secret baby (as in she went on "personal leave" for a few months saying "she was having family issues" and then came back to work with a 3 month old baby). She now is wanting to come back to work full time, but expects me and my coworker to watch her baby

We expressed this to her, and her response was "so decide which of you wants to sit in the back with her for the shift and which of you wants to be at the front". We then flat out told her that we weren't comfortable with that because it

Font - wasn't part of our job requirements when we were hired. Her response was to then edit our training manual and write (and I'm quoting) “The staff purpose is to do whatever needs to be done to free the doctor to see as many people as possible and educate the patient so that they may tell others" (I wish I was kidding). She then screenshot a picture of it and

Font - sent it in our group chat saying "this is from our training manual". My coworker and I both agree that the only reason she's doing this much is because she has no attachment to the child (the minute she walks in the door she passes the baby off to someone and then pretty much ignores her for the rest of the shift).

Plant - Today, she got very upset with us because we weren't absolutely thrilled to play Nannies. And she wonders why everyone takes turns calling out.

Font - thathallandoatesgirl OP 10 hr. ago The only thing I hate about that option is that the baby cries the minute my boss puts her down. We'll have a good 2-3 minutes, then the baby starts screaming and doesn't stop til the end of the day ( 8 hours later when we close and my boss has no choice but to get her and take her home). She does occasionally stop crying when she's exhausted herself and falls asleep, but this only lasts 10-15 minutes as well.

Font - I should also add that she doesn't just cry, but SCREAMS at the top of her lungs to the point where patients have been concerned about her well being Reply Share 91

Font - consult someone on the labor board and see if what she's doing is legal / if we have to / if she'd be able to retaliate if we don't watch her kid 4 40 Reply Share

Font - palaric8 7 hr. ago Apart from all the red flags. You are not qualified to take care of somebody else 3 month old baby. If something happens you will be on so much trouble. 129 Reply Share

Font - ShallowVain 9 hr. ago Literally been there, done that. RUN It won't stop, AND it will lead to your further completely unprofessional involvement in her messiness. I stood in my boss's home and watched his wife force one of their children to eat off the floor while she cried, saying she was not a dog. RUN! 283 Reply Share

Font - misssarahbee. 8 hr. ago I'd quit immediately and contact the labor board as well as child protective services. This woman is not fit to be a mother or a boss of anything. You can't hire someone as a receptionist and then expect them to watch an infant. Wtf is wrong with people?! 202 Reply Share

Font - thathallandoatesgirl OP 10 hr. ago I need to add that we'd be more alright with having to watch her child if we were paid more on the days we had to watch her, and when we asked if we could be paid 2-3 hours more on the days we watch the kid, our boss's response was "no why would I do that? I already pay you?" 104 Reply Share

Font - ifreakinglovedinos - 6 hr. ago Imma be honest, I'd call CPS and make an anonymous report. It's not only that she IMMEDIATLY leaves her child with two essentially strangers who never agreed to take care of her child- it's the whole endangering and neglect. This isn't your job. At all. You're not qualified to do this. What if there's an emergency with the child? Who's liable?

Font - She's crying 8 hours a day in a way that even patients think something isn't right and are worried about her? That's your excuse if she comes in and is flustered that someone called CPS and who would do that- "oh well, must've been a patient hearing her cry all day." Please call CPS. And the labor board. 20 Reply Share
